Simanjiro is one of the rural districts in the country, which demands an equipped health system to provide health services to the citizens.  The district had, however many challenges in its health systems and one of them was the absence of district hospital for more than 20 years. This challenge limited access to essential services that could not be performed at the health centers and dispensaries.

Sikika conducted the Social Accountability Monitoring in the district in the year 2013, and one of the issues raised and constantly being followed up by Sikika and SAM team members was the construction of district hospital. It was noted in 2020 the government completed the construction of the hospital. The citizens are now enjoying accessing services in the hospital and have reduced the cost of traveling to other districts for referral services.
